First Church Holy week calendar.

Holy Week is one of the most sacred weeks in the Christian calendar when we journey with Jesus from his entry into Jerusalem, to his last meal with his friends, to the cross where Jesus confronts the powers of empire, and to the empty tomb where Jesus triumphs over them, showing us that God is always making a way from a no way.

Through story, prayer, ritual and song, we will re-tell these stories in community and we hope you can join us for the following services:

  • Palm Sunday, March 29th at 10AM, join us for a Cantata service that is filled with song and celebration, featuring music from Godspell. Brunch to follow.

  • Maundy Thursday, April 2nd at 6:30PM, join us for a dinner service at First Church Somerville. We will break bread and remember Jesus’ last meal with his friends where he instituted the sacrament of communion.

  • Good Friday, April 3rd at 3PM, join us for a Public Worship and Action for Immigration Justice beginning at the Federal Building in Downtown Boston. As Christians, we will say that from the cross to the detention center, all state violence must end. Those wishing to travel together can meet at First Church Somerville at 3PM to take the T downtown. Please RSVP for the action here:

  • Easter Sunday, April 5th, join us for:

  • Sunrise Service at Powder House Park at 6:10AM

  • Festival Worship followed by Brunch at 10AM in the First Church Somerville Sanctuary
