In February Jamie, Sophia, Kate, Kate, Alida, Owen, Diane, Jerrod, Sarah, and I went to the Casa Hogar San Jose de los huerfanos in Colima, Mexico on a Mission Trip. We spent 5 days with 65 kids from the ages of 3-18 who live and go to school at the Casa during the week. We played, taught, sang with, hugged, danced with, worried about, prayed with, and swam with them. They got a lot out of it. We suspect we got as much, if not more. This Sunday the Mission Trip Team will share our stories and lessons with you.
It's also the first Sunday of Lent. Our Lenten Theme this year is "A People for Others." Can you imagine deepening a spirituality that is less about YOU and more about OTHERS? This is one of the great calls of our faith! How can we help one another get there? What opportunities are there in our lives, communities, and in our church to serve others? Sharing our team's experience in Mexico will be our first step into exploring this spiritual practice together.
This Sunday Kate H. will be our first-time liturgist, Sarah G. and Sophia V. will be our first-time preachers, Jamie T. will read Scripture, Matthew M. will tell us about the Casa Connection, Rev. Molly will pray.
And at the end of the 9 AM service the kids will bury the Alleluias in the sand!
See you under the Tent on Sunday!
