Were you raised in church, and kind of miss the rituals and mood-making that happens this time of year? Were you not raised in church, and wonder what all the fuss is about? We invite you to join our progressive, warm and open community for Advent and Christmas festivities this year, as we draw closer to God in this season of hushing by subtracting noise and distraction from our lives.
Every Sunday: Sabbath Worship with Candlelighting, 10am, with paid professional childcare and Sunday school at the same hour.
Advent Vespers: With ancient chant, candlelight and haunting music, make a quiet space out of the chaos every Wednesday night at 6:45pm in the sanctuary.
Christmas Carolling the Neighborhood: Saturday, December 12, 6:30pm. Call or email the church office (firstname.lastname@example.org) for location!
The Longest Night Service, Wednesday, December 16, 6:45pm. A spiritual-but-not-necessarily-religious service for those who are lonely or in grief. It ends with the kindling of holy fire and hot cider outside under the stars.
Christmas Festival Cantata Worship and Brunch: Sunday, December 20, 10am worship, 11am brunch and caroling. One of the high points of our year together, with bells, fabulous choral anthems, brunch and Christmas cookies, and singing carols together at the top of our lungs.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Carols, Thursday, December 24, 4pm: Family Service with no-stress everybody’s-included impromptu Christmas Pageant. 8pm: Service of Quiet Joy. Real Live Baby Jesus, plenty of candles, beautiful music, and starlight will remind us what it is to be a human being fully alive.
All Ages Christmas Sunday, Sunday December 27, 10am. Come as you are for Pajama Sunday, wear your footies, bring leftover pie, and worship together with your kids if you’ve got ‘em.
